Commonwealth Games gold medallist Mark Jacobsen has been appointed motivation coach at Beaumaris Bowls Club for season 2011-2012.

Mark is delighted to be associated with the famous Beaumaris Club which conducted the first International "Jack High Series "in the mid 80's. Mark's role will be to teach tactics and develop game plans for all pennant sides and to share his knowledge and experience with the other 11 skills coaches. All teams are looking forward to improving and being promoted to higher divisions at the end of the season.

The bowling achievements of Mark are very impressive

We've recently added a new "Linked" site to our website - "Bowls Events in Australia" - which keeps bowlers of all levels informed of regular club events, tournaments and social bowls at clubs all around Australia. Ideal for planning those holiday excursions!  Use the "Links" tab at the left of the page to access that site.

Beaumaris Bowls now on Facebook

The Club now has a Facebook page.

For those of you not familiar with Facebook, it is what is called a social media website. Anyone using Facebook – which is free and is believed to have more than ten million users in Australia alone – can become a “friend” or follower of the Club, which means they will be instantly updated on all social events/tournaments (open days, barefoot bowls, forty/40) that appear on our page.

In addition, our page is instantly updated with useful info from other bowls "friends" and pages about upcoming tournaments, competitions and social days in which our members might like to participate. (That information will also be passed on to members who do not wish to use Facebook by putting notices on the board in the clubhouse, or via our normal website).

The Club's page will also get updated weekly with "happy hour" reminders that will hopefully draw in younger people to the Club.

We already have more than 150 users of our page, so if you're into Facebook come and visit us!! Our Links page, accessed through the tab at the left of this page, will take you to the site.
